Airbag module reset & SRS repair

After a collision the airbag control module stores crash data and locks itself, so the airbag light stays on even after the body work is done. We diagnose the SRS system, reset or repair the module so it works again, and program a replacement module to the car when one is needed. Any airbag or seat-belt pretensioner that deployed has to be replaced first — we check that before anything else. The goal is always a working airbag system, never a warning light turned off without the fix.

How the job goes

  1. 01

Send the year, make, model and a photo of the airbag light or the module label.

  2. 02

We scan the SRS system and check which airbags or pretensioners deployed.

  3. 03

The module is reset or repaired on our bench, or a replacement is programmed to the car.

  4. 04

We reinstall, clear the faults with the system working and confirm the airbag light goes out.

Questions

Why does my airbag light stay on after the car was fixed?

The airbag module saves the crash data and keeps a hard fault until it is reset or replaced. The body work alone does not clear it. We read the module, check every part of the system and bring it back to working order.

Is it safe to reset an airbag module?

It is when the whole system is repaired: deployed airbags and fired seat-belt pretensioners are replaced first, and the module is reset or replaced so it works normally. We never just switch the warning light off.

Can you program a used or new airbag module to my car?

In many cases, yes. A replacement module has to be coded or cleared for your car's VIN and options. Send us the part number and we tell you before we start.

Do you come to the car for SRS work?

We diagnose at the car. Some modules are read and reset on our bench and reinstalled the same visit or a later one, depending on the module.
