Push-to-Start Smart Key Programming at Your Car
A push-to-start smart key, also called a proximity key or intelligent key, talks to the car without leaving your pocket, so it has to be programmed to the car's computer, not just cut. We bring the key and the programming tools to you, add the new smart key, test that the car sees it inside and outside, and cut the emergency blade that hides inside the fob. Spare, replacement or all keys lost, we handle smart key programming for most makes and models, and you get the price by text before we drive out.
How the job goes
- 01
Call or text the year, make and model. A photo of your smart key helps us bring the right one.
- 02
We text you the price before we drive out and confirm the key will work with your car.
- 03
At the car we check ID and ownership, connect to the car and program the new smart key.
- 04
We cut the emergency blade, test push-to-start, doors and trunk, and erase lost keys when the car allows it.

Questions
Can a locksmith program a push-to-start key?
Yes. A mobile automotive locksmith with the right programming tools can add a push-to-start smart key at your car for most makes. A few late-model cars still need the dealer; when that is the case, we tell you before we drive out.
What do I do if my smart key battery dies?
Most smart keys hide a metal blade that opens the driver's door, and many cars start if you hold the fob against the start button or in a marked spot. Your owner's manual shows where. If it still won't start, call us.
Do I need my old smart key to get a new one?
No. On some cars a working key makes the job simpler, but we also program smart keys when all keys are lost. We check your photo ID and the title or registration first.
Can you program a used smart key or one bought online?
Sometimes. Many smart keys lock to the first car they are programmed to and can't be used again, and keys sold online are often the wrong version. Text us a photo and the part number before you buy, and we'll tell you honestly.
