Broken Key Extraction from Door Locks and Ignitions
A key that snaps in the ignition or the door lock leaves half in your hand and half stuck in the cylinder. Don't push it further in with glue, tweezers or a screwdriver; that often makes the job harder. Our key extraction tools are made to pull the broken piece out without taking the lock apart when possible. Then we cut a new key, from the broken pieces, by code or from the lock, and program the chip or the remote if it has one, so you leave with a working key. We come to the car in Dallas–Fort Worth and Greater Orlando.
How the job goes
- 01
Call or text the car and whether the key broke in the ignition, the door or the trunk.
- 02
We text you the price before we drive out. Keep both pieces of the key.
- 03
At the car we check ID and ownership, then pull the broken piece out with key extraction tools.
- 04
We cut and program a new key, test the lock or ignition, and tell you if the cylinder needs repair.

Questions
How do you get a broken key out of an ignition?
We use thin key extraction tools that hook the cuts of the broken blade and slide it out. When the piece is jammed or the cylinder is damaged, the ignition may need to come apart or be repaired, and we tell you before we do it.
Can I drive my car with a broken key in the ignition?
If the piece is stuck inside and the ignition won't turn, no. Don't try to start the car with the broken half or with pliers: it can damage the ignition cylinder and turn a simple key extraction into an ignition repair.
Can you make a new key from a broken key?
Usually, yes. If both pieces are there, we read the cuts and make a new key. If a piece is missing, we cut a key by code or by reading the lock, then program the chip to the car.
Why did my car key break?
Keys wear out. A worn blade, a heavy keychain hanging from the ignition, or a stiff ignition cylinder all add stress until the metal gives. If your key is bent or the ignition feels tight, get a new key or have the cylinder checked before it snaps.
